“Writing to inspire”
When I write music, it is always written to inspire others and help a listener feel something. I don’t want to tell them what or even how to feel, but just that they can feel something . That is so important to me.
I started the life of a musician at a young age, beginning piano lessons at the age of 6. I wouldn't continue to learn and develop too much as a pianist until middle school where I would join the band program and begin the path of a percussionist. Through middle school and continuing to high school, Nathaniel would continue as a percussionist primary. During my time at high school, I would go on to be both a trusted and respected leader of the Marching band and concert band of Bayside High school.
Further, into high school, I took my experience as a percussionist and pianist further and would join Riptide Percussion as a part of ‘Winter Guard International Percussion’ in 2019, where I would compete and perform professionally across the US. During my first and only year in the group, we would go on to make it to Finals in Dayton, Ohio, and perform in front of thousands.
During my time in WGI, band and while writing random pieces of music from time to time, I found the orchestration of music inspiring and the passion I wanted to pursue further. Hearing and experiencing so many groups through the country as well as being a musician behind some of the action, I found myself always wanting and fighting to learn and be a apart of more. I practiced writing a variety of styles from analog heavy electronic music, EDM all the way to classical orchestral music. I would soon find a love for writing similar pieces to film scores. For a brief time I would practice orchestrating and recording only to shortly after, further my education at Full Sail University. Through my degree, I had the opportunity to work and learn in several recording studios, orchestrate, and write for a range of styles. In June of 2021 I graduated from Full Sail with a Bachelor of Science in Music Production and humbled to say I was valedictorian.
With an education and eagerness to keep learning and writing, I plan to continue to write film scores and continue my dream, to inspire others and help you feel.
